Clearwater
Located west of Tampa, I sometimes visit Clearwater for the day when I want to take a mini vacation. It is part of the Tampa-St. Petersburg-Clearwater metropolitan area and offers visitors a variety of vacation opportunities. In Clearwater, you can enjoy Sunsets at Pier 60, a nightly festival featuring music, crafts and street performers. The city also hosts the annual Clearwater Jazz Holiday. And don’t miss the Clearwater Marine Aquarium, the home of Winter, star of the movie Dolphin Tale. Inspiring people around the world, Winter is a symbol of courage, perseverance and hope – and the aquarium is the only place where you can see her. The aquarium also offers three animal interaction programs, dolphin photo opportunities and stingray feedings.
Clearwater Beach dazzles with impeccable beaches and inviting waters. Caladesi Island, off the north end of the beach, was recognized as the nation's best by Dr. Beach (2008). Besides the beaches, there are wonderful neighborhoods and a quaint small town atmosphere. With fine restaurants, family-friendly lodgings and exciting beach activities, Clearwater Beach's many options will have the whole family smiling.
